SMU MIM Programme Highlights:
Internship
The internship lasts a minimum of 10 weeks and provides students with opportunities across a wide range of companies, varying in size and industry, with a monthly stipend ranging from S$1,200 to S$2,000.
SMU-XO
SMU-X Overseas (SMU-XO) project focuses on business challenges outside Singapore. Learn more here.
The tuition fee does not include meals, air travel, living and accommodation expenses incurred for the overseas exchange.
SMU-X

Candidates are encouraged to complete their applications early, as seats in the MIM programme and available scholarships may become limited closer to the final admissions deadlines.
Since the admissions team typically receives a high volume of applications near deadline periods, early submission helps reduce the pressure of gathering necessary documents and waiting for referee reports. Starting the application process as soon as possible is strongly recommended.
SMU MIM Programme Eligibility
No work experience required; up to 3 years of full-time experience allowed.
Good undergraduate degree from a reputable institution (in any field).
Candidates with no prior business experience and want to transit successfully to the world of business with a comprehensive curriculum that covers the latest trends in business management.
SMU MIM Application Requirements
A good GMAT (try a GMAT mini quiz) / GRE (try a GRE mini quiz) / *SMU Admissions Test (SMUAT) score (click here to view the SMUAT Factsheet)
A valid TOEFL / IELTS score is required if the medium of instruction of your undergraduate studies was not English. Valid for two years from the date of the test.

2 Personal Statements:
Explain in 500-600 words your career and personal aspirations, and your motivation for pursuing the SMU programme(s) that you have applied to
Discuss in 500 - 600 words one of the following topics:
Describe your greatest weakness and how you have tried to overcome it.
Describe your outstanding talents, skills and inherent abilities that are not reflected in your academic qualifications and records.
Describe the situation with greatest ethical complexity that you have faced in your professional or academic life, and how your input helped resolved it.
2 Referee Reports
Submit 2 complete sets of referee details during the online process of applying for the SMU MIM. The application portal will automatically send an email to your referees and collect your recommendation forms on your behalf once you have submitted the application.
Copy of NRIC/FIN/Passport (in PDF or JPEG format)
Any other supporting documents
Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for an interview with the Admissions Committee.
* SMU graduates with cumulative GPAs of 3.0/4.0 or better, and graduates from local Autonomous Universities (NUS, NTU, SUSS, SUTD, SIT) with cumulative GPAs of 3.5/5.0 or better will not require a GMAT/GRE/SMU Admissions Test score for admissions. An undergraduate GPA is valid for 5 years after graduation. Speak with your Admissions Manager to find out more.
Please note that meeting the above GPA academic criteria does not guarantee admission. Candidates may still be advised to submit GMAT/GRE/SMU Admissions Test scores to further strengthen their application.
After Submitting Your Application
The Admissions Team will follow up with your application within 3-5 working days. More information on how to practice and sit for the SMU Admissions Test will be provided during this time.Important Notes:
Verification of original documents is required upon matriculation into the programme. Failing to do so may result in applicants having to withdraw from the programme.
If you have not taken the GMAT/GRE/SMU Admissions Test, you may submit your online application first and arrange for the test to be taken as soon as possible.

SMU MIM Programme Fees
Singaporeans and PRs: S$400 (inclusive of GST)
International Applicants: S$500 (inclusive of GST)
Advance Tuition Fee: S$5,000
*All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The Advance Tuition fee of S$5,000 will contribute to the first billing of the tuition fee. The remaining tuition fees would be billed thrice over the duration of the programme. The fees are due and payable within 30 days of the billing. The tuition fee does not include meals, air travel, travel insurance, living and accommodation expenses incurred for the overseas exchange. Singapore Management University reserves the right to alter tuition and other fees as deemed appropriate.

*All candidates are automatically submitted for consideration for Academic Excellence, Global Awareness & SMU-ASEAN scholarships upon meeting the scholarship criteria.
Partial scholarships for the Master of Science in Management (MIM) programme entail award amounts up to S$15,000 of the tuition fee, with no bonds attached. The prevailing GST will still apply for the full tuition fee before the scholarship award.
Academic Excellence
The SMU MiM programme will offer the Academic Excellence Award to high-quality candidates with exceptional academic performance. Awards are based on academic merit, final grades and GMAT score.
Tier One: Awardees must have achieved a GMAT of 700 or above.
Tier Two: Awardees must have achieved a GMAT of 680 or above.

AGL Irudayaraj Scholarship
The AGL Irudayaraj Scholarship is established by Professor Gerard George (Donor), Dean at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at SMU, and his wife Mrs. Hema George. The Scholarship is named in honour of Professor George’s father-in-law who passed away in 2018. Mr AGL Irudayaraj was an entrepreneur and a champion for underprivileged Tamil Christian minorities in India, helping them in his own big and small ways. The scholarship is a tribute to his kind, selfless and enduring efforts in helping others towards a better life.
The purpose of the AGL Irudayaraj Scholarship is to motivate outstanding postgraduates of Indian ethnicity at the University to greater heights of academic excellence.

SMU is committed to lifelong learning. Graduates from SMU undergraduate or postgraduate programmes are automatically eligible for an alumni discount of S$8,000 when applying to the MIM programme.
Singapore Local Autonomous University
Graduates from the following local universities: National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), or Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). are automatically eligible for an alumni discount of S$4,000 when applying to the MIM programme.Eligible candidates may receive exemptions for up to four credit units, with a discount of $3,000 awarded for each credit unit exempted.
SG/PR
Singaporean citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible for a one-time discount of S$5,000.
ASEAN Citizens
ASEAN citizens are eligible for a one-time discount of S$3,000.(Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam)

How different is the MIM from the MBA
Both programmes are designed differently for different purposes. The MIM programme is designed to immerse students in core business fundamentals and develop them into well-rounded individuals who are able to understand how companies run their businesses. The programme also widens their career options beyond their main area of expertise and is suitable for individuals who would like a comprehensive overview of business and management principles.
The MBA is designed for those with sufficient work experience and provides the option for students to choose to specialise in the field of Management, Marketing, or Finance through its 10 electives.
