Entry requirements
Work Experience
Imperial Full-Time MBA students typically join with an average of five years of work experience. A minimum of three years of relevant, continuous full-time experience post-graduation is required to apply. Exceptional candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong academics, international exposure, clear career progression, and a competitive GMAT/GRE score.
Applications are assessed based on career growth, responsibilities, and leadership experience to ensure each candidate can contribute meaningfully to class discussions and peer learning.
Academic Requirement
You will need at least a UK Second Class Honours or the international equivalent, or an acceptable professional qualification:
Full membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in the UK or Ireland (ICAEW, ICAS or Chartered Accountants Ireland)
Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accounting (CIPFA)
Associateship or Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
Full membership of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
GMAT or GRE
You are required to submit a valid GMAT or GRE score as part of your application for the Full-Time MBA.
For the GMAT Exam you will need a minimum overall score of 565. If you have taken the GMAT Exam (10th Edition), you will need a score of at least 600 (our current average is 666). Scores are valid for five years from your appointment date.
Alternatively, you will need a GRE of at least 156 in the verbal, and 158 in the quantitative sections.
Applicants must upload their GMAT or GRE results within their application and release their scores to Imperial Business School for online verification. Hard copies are not required unless specifically requested.

GMAT/GRE Waiver
A limited number of waivers are available each application cycle for candidates who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and strong quantitative skills.
To request a waiver, applicants must submit:
Academic transcripts with module details and grades
An up-to-date CV
Requests must be submitted via the GMAT waiver form before submitting the MBA application. Waiver decisions are made within seven working days. If a waiver is not granted, a valid GMAT or GRE score is required. Applications will remain incomplete without a valid test score and may be withdrawn.
English language requirement
All home, EU, and overseas applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. Students who were not awarded their degree in a qualifying English-speaking country must demonstrate their proficiency by completing an approved English language qualification at the required level. Minimum test requirements for the most popular tests are:
IELTS (academic): A minimum score of 7.0 with minimum scores of 6.5 in all elements
TOEFL iBT: A minimum score of 100 overall with minimum scores of 22 in all elements
Duolingo English Test: 125 Overall with no less than 115 in any band score

Applicants are required to provide contact details for two professional referees. It is recommended that one referee be the applicant’s current line manager to offer insight into their performance and potential.

Step 1. Start your application online
Visit the application portal and create an account by completing your personal details.
Step 2. Submit your supporting documents

Complete degree transcripts with English translation if necessary (view international entry requirements)
Contact details of two professional referees including their company/business email address. We recommend that one should be your current line manager
Essay questions

English language scores (if required i.e. TOEFL, IELTS. View English language requirements)
Step 3. Complete your application
Once you have submitted your supporting documents you can complete your application with the £150 application processing fee. Please note referees will receive a notification upon application submission to provide a reference for the candidate.
