Core Curriculum & Electives


Kellogg’s Two-Year MBA begins with a rigorous core curriculum designed to build a solid foundation in key business areas like accounting, finance, marketing, operations, and strategy. These nine core courses prepare students for deeper study in specialized fields.


After completing the core, students can choose from a wide range of electives to tailor their learning based on career interests and goals—whether it’s entrepreneurship, data analytics, consulting, or global strategy.

If you have previous relevant coursework or work experience, we encourage you to consider waiving specific courses so you can take a greater number of electives.

Note - Regardless of waivers or course load, you’re required to register for six terms of full-time study and complete a minimum of 20.5 credits.

Majors and Pathways


  • At Kellogg, you can shape your MBA your way. There are 8 majors to choose from, like marketing, strategy, or finance , but you don’t have to pick one if you prefer a broader learning path. This flexible system lets you focus on what matters most for your career goals


  • It’s like building your own learning adventure—with expert support to guide you along the way


  • Majors include Accounting, Economics, FinanceManagement AnalyticsManaging OrganizationsMarketing, Operations, and Strategy. A major requires that a student complete the core course for the major and a minimum of four electives



This applies to Full-Time students who matriculate in June 2015 or after.


Work Experience Requirement


During the summer between the first and second year, all Two-Year MBA students must complete a 6–12 week internship. This hands-on experience is part of the graduation requirement and helps students apply what they’ve learned in real-world settings related to their career goals.
